May 21, 2012 - It's a good way of practicing collection, altough I think collection should be a "forward" movement, because there are soo many horses who loose all the energy when collected

May 21, 2012 - Thank you for your comment! This is true. This is only one of many exercises you can do to help with vertical flexion. In order to get collection, your horse must first be able to lift and round its back. There are so many horses that have trouble with this. It can be more effective for a horse to first get the mobility, then ask them for the movement with a purpose.
